Vanquishing the Invaders

Lorena Caputo

The cold & dark

of pre-dawn sinks

into my troubled

mind, churning with

what ifs …

what ifs …

I can no longer sleep

with those companions

invading my bed

In the silence I

allow the steaming

water loosen sinew

& when I emerge

magenta, lemon & cerulean

paint the sky above

the mountains
