Issue 1: Non Sum Qualis Eram

non sum qualis eram - i am not what i used to be

Indeed, all of these pieces are not what they used to be. Each began life on the page headed in one direction but was diverted - water splitting (sometimes forcefully, sometimes gently) around rocks in the literary stream. Some of them endured long journeys while others found their destination quickly - all are finally home.

These fifty-nine rejected works (forty-one poems, eighteen prose stories) have been split into four sections - four symbols of a second chance: lotus, crescent moon, feathers, tabula rasa. Each piece spoke to us, told us to which representation of a second chance it belonged.
